Taro Milk Tea

Té de Leche de Taro

Ingredients

  • Taro Powder — 35g
  • Hot water — 100ml
  • Black Tapioca Pearls (cooked) — 80g
  • Ice — to fill
  • Fresh milk or non-dairy creamer — 80ml

Method

  1. Mix the taro base — Combine Taro Powder with 100ml hot water. Whisk or blend until completely smooth with no lumps.
  2. Add milk — Stir in fresh milk or creamer. The mixture should be a rich, even purple.
  3. Prepare pearls — Place cooked tapioca pearls in the bottom of a clear cup.
  4. Build — Fill cup with ice, pour taro mixture over.
  5. Serve — The purple colour is the hero — always use a clear cup.

Tips

  • Blend with ice for a taro slush variant — hugely popular in summer months.
  • Oat milk works beautifully as a dairy-free option and complements the earthy taro flavour.
  • The deeper the purple, the more Instagrammable. Use full 35g powder for best colour.
